Called

There came a time when leadership began to place me in teaching positions that were contrary to established tradition.  I was criticized, shunned, and hurt by several members of the church – equally by men and women.  It would have been easy to run back into the secular world, but I knew this calling was never just about me.

Wanderlust

When our school was one of the first in the community to offer foreign languages, I had no idea the world that was about to open up to me.  I began studying the Spanish language in the sixth grade and immediately fell in love with the test of translating, writing, and speaking in another language. The challenge was exhilarating, and learning to communicate in an alternate vernacular was like completing a puzzle.
